Downloading the map will help you avoid getting lost and help you make smarter decisions about where to go next. If you want to avoid Alton Tower queue times, visit on a cloudy day. Rides will only close if there are severe winds and terrential rain.
There are plenty of indoor attractions at Alton Towers so you can keep dry if the weather does take a turn. The upshot is that the park is almost always less busy when it rains which means shorter queues and more ride time. Alton Towers spans across more than hectors.
As a result, most people start with the rides at the front of the park and then slowly work their way backward. This means that they will get to high-thrill rides like The Smiler and Oblivion later in the afternoon. If you want to avoid queue times, start at the back of the park and work your way forward. It is located near the front of the park and is a popular first ride of the day.
If you are staying at the Alton Towers hotel or arrive early at the park, you should be able to hop in the queue for Wicker Man before it creeps over the minute mark. After 11 am, the ride wait time creeps up as sneakily as that first chain lift.
Toward closing time, most people will be either getting ready to leave or hitting the rides at the back of the park before they go home. Wait times are usually a little shorter for Wicker Man around this time. To avoid disappointment, keep an eye on the Alton Towers queue times app so you can join the queue before it closes.
Another good time to get on the most popular rides is around lunchtime. Alton Tower queue times tend to be lower just after midday when people are stepping out of the queue to grab lunch. For maximum efficiency, grab a quick snack that you can eat in line. If you do decide to dive into the pizza and pasta buffet, avoid Spinball Wizard and The Smiler for at least 60 minutes while your food goes down. For all the latest information on queue times and so much more download the Alton Towers app and use it to plan the rest of the day.
Use the app to plan your direction but make sure to group ride times together for specific sectors. If Rita is on a 10 minute queue not likely and Th13teen is on 40 mins add those two together and compare them to X-Sector.
Wicker Man and Spinball are treated individually and are usually quietest at dinner time when everyone is grabbing a bite to eat. As people start to head home throughout the day the queues get smaller and sometimes even walk-on for such high throughput rides such as Oblivion and Nemesis. Make the most of the last hour before the park closes and remember that queue lines close when the park does and not the ride. Once again rides at the far ends of the park Forbidden Valley and Dark Forest will have the smallest queues.
Make the most of them. Twiddle your thumbs for a bit, got to the arcade and play a few games, feed a few ducks, sunbathe on the lawn and when you want to ride just walk up to the ride of choice and jump on it within 10 minutes. I brought a fast shot through the app and within 3 minutes we were walking out the gift shop after an incredible ride on the looping coaster.
Hi, I was wanting to plan a trip within the next month or so basically while schools are still in term time and was wondering when the best time to go would be? Are there any trends in the week that make one day particularly less busy? Is there a better time of the month? I guess weather can play a big factor?
But if its too bad will rides shut down? Sorry for all the questions, I just want to go when the park is at its quietest Thanks. Posted 30th Apr Messages: Likes Received: I've found Tuesdays to be a good bet. Preferably a dry one with light winds. Messages: 2, Likes Received: 3, Messages: 4, Likes Received: 7, Wednesdays are very quiet days at the moment Any day Monday to Thursday inclusive but avoiding bank holidays or school holidays and school trips weeks leading up to the summer holidays are all good days, do check the opening dates on line as the park is currently closed on Wednesdays.
